The new TGIN Miracle Styling Water Activated Curl Elongating Gel is here and I had to come on here to give it a review.

As soon as I saw this product while scrolling through the Ulta app, I texted my husband and asked him to pick it up for me on his way home from the barbershop. Here’s three reasons why I stopped in my tracks to pick up and review this gel ASAP.

“Water Activated”

Over the past couple of years of my natural hair journey, I’ve started to pivot towards using more concentrated products that really shine when married with lots of WATER. Moisture and definition does not come from a product, but from the amount of water that we feed our hair every wash day. At this point, the vast majority of my tried and true holy grail products from shampoos to conditioners to styling products have these highly concentrated formulations that allow me to use product sparingly and focus on hydration. Since I already am used to using lots of water during my styling, the learning curve wouldn’t be so steep with this gel.

“Curl Elongating”

Shrinkage is always a sign of healthy hair, but I tend to gravitate towards products that give good curl elongation at the styling stage to ensure that my curls are uniform when they dry and inevitably shrink back up towards my scalp. Curl Elongating products also enhance curl definition and give a more uniform look around the entire head while also reducing tangling. My weekly wash days go so much smoother now that I don’t have to battle my curls tangling up at the root.

Aloe Vera and Panthenol

Aloe vera is my favorite ingredient in hair products as of late because of the way that it gives a slippery feel that provides moisture while also lubricating my hair strands. Panthenol, or vitamin B5, is another good for you humectant that nourishes hair, acts as an emollient, and helps maintain the moisture balance. Once I saw that these ingredients were part of the formulation I knew that it would be suitable as a complement to my base styler, Curly Magic. The consistency of the TGIN Water Activated Gel was definitely lived up to it’s name as soon as I tried it in place of the I Create Hold. Outside of the shower, I lightly misted each section of hair that was already layered with my and I added about a quarter sized amount of the TGIN gel at a time. It instantly provided me with weight, elongation, and definition, which is exactly what I use the I Create Hold for at this stage in my styling.

While I do think that Innersense I Create Hold is overall still a winner, I’m excited for my wear test this week to see how the TGIN holds up throughout the week. I’ll be back to give an update once the week is up!

Let me know in the comments what other hair products you’re curious about, and if you’ve found any dupes for some pricey products currently on the market.
